May 9, 2009 - Oneida Lake (7AM to 12noon)

The G.O.B. Juniors and the G.O.B. senior club boaters arrived at the Oneida Shores County Park launch at 6:30AM to a beautiful morning sky and a slight southeast breeze.

The Junior-Pro's & Juniors managed to find some bass although the initial game plan of "fishing shallow", didn't produce much fish.  It appeared that the shallow bass had moved out a little deeper and were being caught in 4 to 6 feet of water.  The problem in that water column is that it is chuck full of toothy critters.  The youngsters had no problem loading the boats with hungry pickerel.  Of course, we were all looking to measure some bass and some of the guys had a good time and ended up doing just that.

Junior-Pro Mitchell Jones took 1st place in the Junior-Pro division with a total measurement of 84 inches of legal bass, earning him 25 points.  Mitchell led the way using a "wacky-rigged" (Junebug) Senko plastic worm.  As bass season does not open until late June, we employ the "catch & release" technique, where we measure the length of the bass only, then immediately release it back to the water.  Mitchell was followed by Trevor Parker, Ryan Friscia, Coty Atkinson and Josh Vredenberg.

In the Junior division, Raymond Bentz received top honors, finishing 1st and collecting 25 points as well. He was followed by Nick Baxter, Guy Crump Jr., Jake Drabot and Bill Easterly.

In the Minnow division, Devon Robinson traveled the edges of the Oneida Park shore-line and caught the fish needed to take 1st place in his division and also received 25 points.

The next Club Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday night, May 19th, at Onondaga Lake from 6PM until 9PM.
