Minutes of the Meeting January 29, 2008 Time: The meeting was opened at 7:02 PM by our Jr. Club President. He passed out an agenda for our meeting and informed us that Mr. Mickey Fortunato, our New York Junior BASS Chapter Federation Youth Director and his guest Kenny Knapp, (our February 2007 New York State Junior-Pro World Championship Representative) would be in attendance for the meeting. Our president also announced that Mr. Frank Doll, member of our GOB senior club would speak to us about a new club logo and tee-shirts. Secretary’s Report: Our Club Secretary was unable to attend the meeting.
Treasure’s Report: Our Treasurer reported that the Club has a balance of $917.45 in the bank. He confirmed that we had signed up 14 new paid-up memberships for 2008.
Tournament Director’s Report: Our Tournament Director reported that he would propose up to 6 tournaments for the 2008 tournaments including bass boats, shore-line and minnows events to compliment the three NYJBCF tournaments. The number of actual tournaments are yet to be finalized, but the proposed dates were all on Saturdays (which we may want to review), beginning with April 26, a pond tourney, May 10, a boat tourney, May 31, a boat tourney, June 9, a minnows shore tourney and June 15, a boat tourney. We also discussed scouting events on Oneida Lake prior to the state events. We need to discuss these possibilities and maybe move some of these events to Tuesday nights and finalize our schedule by the next meeting so our parents and the adults boaters can plan accordingly. Webmaster’s Report: Connell Raate reported that he and Dom Maio have decided to handle the web-site applications in the future, rather than a junior member. It places a tremendous burden on each junior over and above the activities they normally handle within the club. When you couple that with the fact that our juniors will continue to move up to the adult program, it means that new members will always have to be instructed and trained on its use. Youth Director’s Report: Jeff Edgarton reported that no new names were submitted for the 2008 officers of the club, therefore all incumbent positions were retained for the upcoming year. Congratulations to all our Club Officers for their respective victories. Club Logo & Tee-Shirts: Senior GOB member, Frank Doll presented a new junior logo design for the members to review. Frank also mentioned that our Club price would be at their production cost or about $8 to $9 dollars apiece including the imprint. We still have to discuss this process and come to a final decision. We did decide that we will go with an off-gray background color for the tee-shirt. NY Jr BASS Chapter Federation Youth Director: Mickey Fortunato cleared up some issues on the new 2008 NY Junior tournament trail, explaining how BASS was being transitioned into the Federation Nation program and also discussed a fund-raising program for Purolator and Bosch Spark Plugs using product UPC Code labels. Looking forward to spring, when fishing for BASS will be great! |
