Good Ole Boy’s Jr. Club Banquet a success

On Sunday evening, January 18, 2009, the Good Ole Boy’s Junior Bassmasters held their annual Club Banquet at the Central Square Fire Station.  Many families struggled through the bitter cold and snowy evening so they could join together to recognize their youngsters on the accomplishments achieved in 2008.

BANQUET MENU

The menu consisted of hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks along with many beautiful dishes and desserts “brought-to-share” by each family.

CLUB MEETING

While everyone enjoyed the excellent food, Club President, Kevin Hamon opened the evening by calling for a short club meeting to discuss and vote for the incoming 2009 club officers.

Kevin will be relinquishing his post as club president and move up to the senior circuit to compete amongst the "big boys" which includes his father and junior club contributor, Joe Hamon.

The membership nominated and voted in a new club president Mitchell Jones and for vice president they elected Guy Cromp, Jr.   Voted on and returning for another year will be Dustin Robinson as Treasurer, Matthew Mitchell as Secretary and Ryan Friscia as Tournament Director.  Guy Cromp, Sr., will retain his role as Captain of the “Minnow Division”.

BASS RULE MODIFICATIONS FOR 2009
Following the club elections, discussions turned to the changes introduced by BASS for the 2009 Divisional season.  The new format for the junior/junior-pro qualifiers will be that instead of fishing just against his junior and/or junior-pro competitor, the youngster will also become an integral part of the adult competition.  When the youngster fishes alongside his State Team Alternate, President or Youth Director, his/her weight will be added to the State Team total weight.  This final weight will determine the top State Team for the Divisional.

Additionally, each state will establish its own “safe age” as of its final qualification event for the year.  BASS will then “freeze” the qualifier’s age as of the final event, therefore preventing the youngster from being over-age or “aging-out” prior to the scheduled event.

CLUB AWARDS

Following the meeting, certificates and plaques were handed out to the individuals.  Many thanks have to go to our club sponsors who again, despite hard economic times, came forward to donate prizes and gifts for our youngsters.
