August 26, 2008
Time: The meeting was opened at 7PM by Dom Maio, on behalf of our Youth Director, Jeff Edgarton. Dom Maio passed out the agenda for our meeting. and informed us of the many issues we needed to cover.
Secretary’s Report: Dom Maio reported on behalf of our Club Secretary, Matthew Mitchell because he was not available for our July meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Dustin Robinson reported that the balance in the month of August began with $1,623.68 and after the tournament dues, and invoices were paid, our club's balance stood at $1,223.68.
Tournament Director’s Report: Our Tournament Director, Ryan Friscia reported the Tournament schedule for the balance of 2008.
He reported that we will fish two (2) more tournaments in 2008, both of these will be Shore-line and he proposed the following dates which were voted on, accepted and approved by the membership.
*Saturday, September 20, 2008 8AM - Noon Gulliver's Pond No Live Bait will be permitted.
*Sunday, October 5, 2008 1PM - 4PM Corky Winn's Pond
PLEASE NOTE: These above two (2) Points Tournaments will count towards your point totals to determine the top 6 anglers for the 2009 6-Man CTC (Club Team Championship).
Ryan also reported that we will schedule four (4) Tournaments prior to the Official Bass opener in June which coupled with the final two in 2008 will give us a total of six (6) tournaments. Junior angler's will be able to drop their two (2) poorest showings from these six (6) tournaments. The best four (4) tournaments will now determine our G.O.B. 6-man team in 2009.
Also discussed and tabled for future meetings beginning in the year 2010, is to attempt to schedule all six (6) tournaments between April and the Bass opener in June to determine the CTC. These tournaments will also be a combination of bass boat and shore-line events.
Dom Maio strongly emphasized that at least $25.00 Gas Money MUST be offered to all G.O.B. senior boaters per practice event. This money is NOT reimbursable from the Club's Treasury, but must be made as a good-will gesture to assist the boater in covering a small percentage of his/her investment for that day.
Dom also stressed that each junior MUST offer his/her boater $50.00 per day when competing in any of the three (3) NY qualifiers and tournaments. This money WILL be reimbursed from the Club's Treasury and paid to the junior at the following club meetings.
Dom Maio also thanked the participating juniors and parents who showed up at Oneida Shores County Park for Fish Care station duties and to also work the NY Food and Drinks concession stand. It was reported that parents and junior members showed up and waited all day without being scheduled at the food stand. Dom apologized and promised to look into it with Mickey Fortunato and also promised to ask about the compensation.
Dom Maio also stated that in his discussions with Youth Director, Jeff Edgarton, that beginning in 2009, all junior members who participate fully in Club selected fund-raisers will be eligible for individual Tournament fee compensation. The G.O.B. junior club will pay entry fees for the following three (3) NY Tournaments.
These tournaments are the following; the (JWC) Junior World Championship, the (CTC) Club Team Championship and the Junior/Partners Event.
BOATER SAFETY COURSE, was discussed and Dom reminded everyone that each junior must take the course pass it and have his/her card on them whenever fishing or competing from a boat beginning in 2009.
Additional Club Fund-raisers were discussed and more ideas were circulated around the room. The Fund-Raising committee was present and promised to meet and will be prepared to present ideas at the next meeting so they can be voted on.
Our G.O.B. Junior Club Tournament Fishing Shirts have arrived and are ready for embroidery. Dollars collected from the bottle & can drive will pay for the embroidery.
Please be sure YOU have supported the bottle & can drive! We will continue to collect and ask for YOUR dollars from this function.
BassPro has requested that we consider returning to Auburn on Black Friday, the day following Thanksgiving to assist them in the same manner we did for their Hunting Week-end Special.
