Minutes of the Meeting

 April 29, 2008

Time: The meeting was opened at 7:00 PM by our Jr. Youth Director, Jeff Edgarton, on behalf of our Jr. Club president Kevin Hamon who was tied up with after-school activities.  Mr. Edgarton passed out an agenda for the meeting.  He informed us that Dom Maio would not be attending and reviewed the issues we needed to cover.

One of the important issues was that of "fund raising".

(1) The bottle & can drive will be continued.  This individual effort is needed because each member is expected to pay for his/her individual tournament fishing shirt.  Each member wishing to have a tournament shirt must collect about $60.00.

(2) The other fund raiser is designed to cover the 3 State Tournament entry fees as well as the dollars we anticipate contributing to the adult boaters in an effort to offset the rising fuel, oil and operating expenses of bringing their rigs to the junior tournaments.  Through our strong financial programs, we should be able to raise enough money to give our adult boaters at least $50.00 per tournament.

Secretary’s Report: Our Club Secretary reported on and read the minutes of our March meeting.  His minutes were voted on and accepted.

Treasure’s Report: Our Club Treasurer reported that the Club began with a balance of $917.45 in the bank. He deposited $200.00 in sponsorship money and $70.00 in membership dues.  He paid out $97.20 for the printing of raffle tickets and paid out $62.37 for bumper stickers.  The balance at month end was $1,027.88.

Our treasurer also spoke about the raffle tickets and the two specific raffles our members voted for and agreed on in our March meeting.  One covers a 50/50 raffle and the tickets are $5.00 each.  The other is a $1.00 raffle ticket for 3 different dollar values of Bass Pro Gift Certificates.  He then distributed the raffle tickets to our Club members based on the number of tickets they each expected to sell.  Other ideas were circulated as "fund raisers" and will be discussed at upcoming meetings.

Tournament Director’s Report: Our Tournament Director had no changes to report from his position other than the search was still ongoing to seek any upcoming classes for the US Coast Guard approved Boater's Safety course.  At this point we have about 11 members that will require the course.  Of the 11 members, only 2 members have signed up at Bass Pro for the June 14th session and 1 member has signed up for the June 28th session at Gander Mountain.  Please understand that this course is required in order for the member to assist in operating the trolling motor during tournaments both in the US and in Canada.

Guest Speaker:  Club members had the pleasure of meeting and listening to an angling presentation from Coach Bill Kays.  Coach Kays is a member of our GOB senior club and specializes in the "finesse" techniques.  He selected the popular Yamamoto Senko for his presentation.  Coach Kays discussed the proper use of these soft baits, the different ways to rig them, and how to apply them into various angling situations.

Webmaster’s Report:  No new reports regarding the website.

The meeting adjourned at 7:45PM.

Looking forward to tournament time, when fishing for BASS will be great!
