Minutes of the Meeting March 25, 2008
Time: The meeting was opened at 7:07 PM by our Jr. Youth Director, Jeff Edgarton, on behalf of our Jr. Club president who was tied up at soccer practice. Jeff passed out an agenda for our meeting. and informed us of the many issues we needed to cover. Secretary’s Report: Our Club Secretary was unable to report on our February meeting because it was cancelled due to high winds and heavy snowfall.
Treasure’s Report: Our Treasurer reported that the Club has a balance of $917.45 in the bank.
Tournament Director’s Report: Our Tournament Director reported that he finalized his proposal for the 2008 season and suggested that we conduct the following (4) four "points" tournaments. For the first (3) three tournaments, we will be fishing out of the senior club boats on Tuesday nights from 6PM until 9PM. These (3) three tournaments will be "paper-weight" tournaments since bass season is still closed and the only DEC approved method is catch & release. The 1st one is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27th launching from Oneida Shores County Park, the 2nd is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3rd also launching from Oneida Shores and the 3rd is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10th on Onondaga Lake, launching from the Onondaga Lake Park Marina. The 4th tournament will be a pond tournament scheduled for Tuesday, July 15th. Of these 4 "points" tournaments, we will accept the best (3) three finishes for each junior to determine the top six qualifiers for the Sunday, July 20th NYS Club TEAM Championship event which will be conducted on Oneida Lake. This CTC event will also coincide with the 2009 Canadian Divisional Qualifier for our CTC entrants as well as any other junior wishing to compete. Please see Mr. Edgarton for additional information. Finalists in the Canadian qualifier will be required, along with their parents to present a valid passport. The final (2) two tournaments will be pond Tournaments scheduled for Saturday, August 9th from 7AM until noon and Saturday, September 20th from 7AM until noon. The T/D's proposal was opened for general discussion, then accepted by the majority. This proposal will now be presented to our senior club for modification or acceptance.
Dom Maio brought up a critical issue that faces each angler and recreational boater. In order to handle a trolling motor on any bass boat in some of the upcoming tournaments, it will be mandated that each junior become certified through the US Coast Guard approved Boater's Safety course on or before August 31, 2008. We are presently looking into any open or scheduled courses for 2008 to see if we can make it a club event. Youth Director’s Report: Jeff Edgarton expressed a need to form two junior committees. One for our Sponsorship program and the other for a Fund Raising program. We are placing a strong demand on our juniors to raise enough money through their own programs and efforts, so that their respective parents don't have to ... in order to help reduce some of the burden our boaters face with the spiraling costs related to boats, fuel, housing & insurance. Through our strong financial programs, we should be able to raise enough money to give our adult boaters at least $50.00 per tournament. The purpose for these committees is to research and determine multiple approaches and summarize these solutions outside our scheduled meetings. This approach will allow us more time to review the options and then present these proposals to the club membership during our scheduled meeting. The first meeting for these (2) committees will be held on Saturday, April 5th from 9AM until 11AM at our Central Square Fire Station. Jeff also requested that each member begin bringing in the dollars you receive for your CAN & BOTTLE Drive! This program must be on-going, as the dollars collected will be used for your new fishing shirts and embroidery. Webmaster’s Report: No new reports regarding the website. Club Logo & Tee-Shirts: Our Club Treasurer made out a check to be presented at the senior club meeting to cover the costs for a club decal. These decals will be available to the membership for $1.00 a piece. Looking forward to spring, when fishing for BASS will be great! |
