Join Our Central Square, Good Ole Boys Junior Bassmasters Club

Submitted by Jeff Edgarton, GOB Junior Bassmaster Youth Director

Meetings

The GOBJBM meet evenings at 7PM on the last Tuesday of every month at the Central Square Fire Station which is located at the intersections of State Route 11 and State Route 49 in Central Square, New York.  For further information about our club please contact our GOBJBM Youth Director Jeff Edgarton using this link.

Membership

The total cost for GOBJBM annual membership in 2008 has again been held to $35.00.  We ask that each youngster join National B.A.S.S., so we automatically send $10.00 of your membership dollars to B.A.S.S.  This cost enables you to receive a BASS TIMES magazine and covers you with a one million dollar liability insurance during all club activities.  Additionally, another $10.00 is sent to the New York BASS Chapter Federation which allows you to fish in the 3 scheduled NY BASS tournaments each year and entitles you to some financial traveling aid should you reach the divisional and Federation Nation finals.  The remaining $15.00 is for our GOBJBM club dues which allow us to cover operating expenses and to purchase items such as plaques, trophies, club tee-shirts, tournament equipment, banquet expenses, etc.

Club Format

The Good Ole Boys Junior Bassmasters operates similar to all the other 160 Junior BASS Clubs across the United States.  This club is organized into 3 groups; the Minnow’s, Junior’s and Junior-Pro’s.

The "Minnow Division" will be youngsters whose ages are 10 years old or younger.  They will be fishing using a single hook with “live bait” such as worms and minnows.  This will enable the youngest of the anglers a much better opportunity to catch fish which will also helps them to retain a reasonable level of interest.  The minnows angling events and practice sessions are limited to shore-fishing and row-boat fishing.  They are not allowed to fish out of full-size bass boats until they reach 11years of age.

The "Junior Division" will be boys and girls whose ages range from 11 to 15.  They will compete using any type of hook including treble hooks and they can only use artificial lures.  They will be guided and instructed in the use of artificial lures accordingly based on their respective experiences.

The "Junior-Pro Division" will be anglers whose ages range from 16 to 18, and have not yet reached the age of 19.  They also compete using only artificial lures and will also be guided and instructed accordingly based on their respective experiences.
