 GOB Junior Bass Club Banquet

January 20, 2008

The 1st Annual GOB Junior Bassmasters Club Banquet was held at the Central Square Fire Station on Sunday January 20, 2008.  This banquet culminated 10 months of building, guiding and massaging a junior club from its infancy to a robust membership of 22 young men and women.

A large measure of credit initially must go to our supportive & energetic mom's and dad's who arranged their family schedules accordingly to meet the vacillating and often times last-minute arrangements that were presented to them.

An enormous amount of credit must also be extended to our adult or senior GOB Bassmasters for their unwavering commitment to our juniors for the use of their boats, fuel, equipment, insurance and personal time.

This banquet and our complete junior BASS program would never survive, if it were not for the gracious commitment and contributions from all our sponsors.

All-in-all, our youngsters truly appreciate how fortunate they are and hope their future accomplishments both as anglers and individuals, somehow reflect a token of everyone's involvement.

The banquet ceremonies were opened at 6PM by GOB Jr. Club Youth Director, Jeff Edgarton.  Jeff spoke briefly about our 2007 charter year, and then awarded the Junior Club officers; president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and tournament director with plaques noting their excellent service and the respective roles they had performed on behalf of their fellow members and the club as a whole.

Jeff thanked the Central Square Fire Station for allowing us to hold our banquet in their facility, the GOB senior club members, the parents, and everyone that assisted by  cooking, serving and preparing dishes & desserts for our banquet.

All the delicious food and desserts were prepared and served by the parents.

Jeff invited all our attendees to move to the prepared buffet tables, fill their plates and "chow-down".  He then turned the presiding duties over to our Junior Club president.

After acknowledging the excellent feats and accomplishments our juniors achieved in one short year, our club president began noting the individual efforts made by each club member in our club events as well as in the New York State Tournaments and awarded them certificates accordingly.

Junior Club members receive their respective certificates for having competed in two New York State Championship tournaments and one Junior/Partner Team event in 2007.

Prizes were awarded to our members from our sponsors Bass Pro Shop, Strike King Lures, Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Tru Tungsten, which included items such as soft-tackle bags with plastic tackle boxes, tee-shirts, crank-baits, stick-baits, hats, BASS Calendars, emblems, decals, catalogs and much more.  Central Square's, Wal-Mart Super Store generously donated all the paper-plates, utensils, napkins, condiments, etc!

Again, our special thanks go out to our sponsors for their generous contributions.

Strike King Lure supplied all our Junior Club members with crank & stick-baits, hats, emblems and decals.

Tru Tungsten supplied our juniors shirts and hats.

Overall, it was a grand event and the turn-out was better than expected because of the several feet of snow some of our attendees drove through in getting to the banquet and eventually had to drive through to return home.  Our thanks go out to everyone involved in making this the first of these memorable occasions.
